I went with the logo on the right because its more versatile. I knew I wanted to use the tip of an ink pen to illustrate an “i” in the negative space but I didn’t want it too obvious. So I created a symbol that incorporates the ink pen along with every letter in the word “OMNI”.
This way the symbol can later be used to stand alone in the absence of the words. The pencil was the final touch to isolate the Design portion of the name while creative a breakpoint in between both words.
The type used is Microsoft Yi BaitiI. It was chosen because it is a sleek typeface that does not clash with the complexity of the design. The thin nature of the font gives the feeling that the logo was also handwritten.
